What SchoolOS can read, how, and what happens when access isn't available.

No accounts are connected.

Everything you see in demo mode is sample data. Connections work only in live mode, after you sign in.

Official grades and reporting periods

Method: Import from your own portal pages (Copy for SchoolOS); a district-authorized API plugin only if TUSD provides one
Reads: coursesgrades
Access limits: PowerSchool's data API requires a plugin installed by a district System Administrator; students can't enable it, and TUSD's student portal offers no export. So imports are manual (you click), never automatic.
If unavailable: Copy for SchoolOS from Grades and Attendance and Class Score Detail, pasted tables, or manual entry.

Courses, assignments, due dates, announcements

Method: Now: your personal calendar feed (iCal). Later: the documented REST API, if your account's role can obtain API credentials

Permissions requested: Your Schoology calendar feed (read-only): assignment due dates and events
Access limits: API credential access depends on role permissions your school sets. Must be tested with your account.
If unavailable: Available now: your personal Schoology calendar feed (iCal), plus file uploads. The full API needs a check of whether your account can create API keys.

Teacher emails and announcements

Method: Google OAuth, gmail.readonly, filtered to school senders/labels you choose
Reads: messages
Permissions requested: Read your email messages and settings (read-only) · Your Google account email address
Access limits: gmail.readonly is a restricted scope. Personal/testing use is possible; school-managed accounts may block third-party access.
If unavailable: Forward or upload relevant messages.

Method: Google OAuth, read-only scope; your primary calendar (choosing other calendars comes later)

Permissions requested: See your calendars and events (read-only) · Your Google account email address
Access limits: Writes (study sessions) will always ask for confirmation first.

Method: Forms, CSV import and secure file upload

Connection rules

Read-only access by default; anything that writes (calendar events, tasks) asks first, every time.
OAuth tokens are encrypted on the server (AES-256-GCM) and never reach the browser.
A service only shows as connected after a real test read succeeds.
SchoolOS never asks for or stores your school passwords, never bypasses SSO, and doesn't use undocumented endpoints.
Disconnecting revokes Google access and deletes stored credentials; removing a feed deletes the stored link.
